Rahmi holds the role of Assistant Professor, which is a tenure-track faculty position, and also serves as a civil servant under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. She is affiliated with the Department of Library and Information Science, part of the Faculty of Humanities at Universitas Indonesia. Rahmi's research is mainly concerned with the human-centred facets of information behaviour, with recent investigations involving disaster-related human-information behaviour, embodied information, quantitative analysis, computational social science, documentation studies, and crisis informatics. She earned her M.Sc and Ph.D from the Graduate School of Library, Information and Media Studies at the University of Tsukuba in Japan in 2015 and 2019, respectively. Notably, Dr. Rahmi became the youngest person in Indonesia to hold a doctorate in Library and Information Science, receiving her doctorate at the age of 27. She also holds the position of chairperson for Kappa Sigma Kappa Indonesia (KSKI). Moreover, Dr. Rahmi has been appointed as the Head of Synergy, Alignment & University Rankings Management within the Transformation, Risk Management, Monitoring Evaluation (TREM) Bureau at Universitas Indonesia.
