Blog
Hi.
I plan to make a website since I am back to Indonesia to start a new carer as a researcher and educator in Dept. Library and Information Science, Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia from 2019. I realised that the website is crucial for academics to put all of their works into one place and can be openly accessed with the public, so that they did not perish.
On June 26th, I started to make the plan happen just because I was so overwhelmed with the work routine -which you can guess it is all about reading, writing, revising, and many more. I need some innovative and creative inputs that always appear when I try to create something. Besides, this is a perfect time for academics because the fall semester has not started yet.
I really am looking forward to sharing what's on my thoughts, recent activities, and other academic stuff that maybe (or maybe not) relevant to your life.
Quotes of the day (in Bahasa Indonesia):
“Tak ada brahmana angkuh. Mereka hanya lebih mengerti, lebih tahu daripada orang yang menganggap pengetahuan dan ilmu sebagai keangkuhan.” ―Pramoedya Ananta Toer
Hope you can cherish every moments in your life, even when a pandemic, a crisis, or a disaster strikes. Also hoping you are safe and healthy with your beloved ones.

Why I called my website as a 'laboratory'
I called a website as a laboratory, sounds strange right?
Back to 2013-2019, I enrolled as a master and a doctoral student at the University of Tsukuba, Japan. I joined a Joho Lab (or Information Seeking and Retrieval Laboratory ーabbrv. IS&R Lab) under the supervision of Dr. Joho.
As an international student, I did not have any requirement to join a specific lab.
As for the local undergraduate students (Japanese), however, the enrollment system was quite unique.
For example, let's say a bunch of final-year undergraduate students want to be supervised under a specific professor, or maybe those undergraduate students did not know very well about the professors' (or faculty members') expertise.
So, what could they do?
- A university has a program once a year to have an 'Open LAB' event. For maybe less than a week, those final-year undergraduate students can listen through several professors' explanation about their expertise, and also those undergraduate students can listen to the lab member (students) that already have been supervised by their professor.
- Those final-year undergraduate students will have a privilege to rank 3 out of many faculty members to be their future supervisor.
- Those supervisors will also have a privilege by choosing students that match with their expertise or other aspects then it will be decided through a board meeting.
Before having an opportunity to supervise (insyaAllah), I need to be well-prepared about my expertise so that those future students can learn and apply those beneficial knowledge to our surroundings. I am looking forward for that moment to come #aamiin.
Hope you could understand this mixed-culture I try to blend in.
Sincerely yours,
